Ellen Shumka

Ellen Shumka is from Waterloo, Ontario, where she completed her B.A. (Honours) in Psychology and English. Her research interests at the University of Waterloo included self-esteem and social-evaluative focus in females. After completing her undergraduate degree, Ellen worked for numerous non-profit organizations in Waterloo where she supported women and children fleeing abusive relationships, individuals with congenital deaf blindness, and adolescents in group home settings. She then moved to Vancouver in pursuit of her M.A. in School Psychology at UBC.

Her current research interests include bullying and moral disengagement, childhood anxiety, and social and emotional interventions for children. Ellen is a doctoral student in School Psychology and continues to examine the social and emotional well-being of children.
